IN MEMORY OF MIKE GRACE
(9th August 1960 - 17th August 2008)

Mike Grace lost an eye to cancer in 2006 and in 2008 the cancer had spread to his liver. Sadly Mike lost his battle in August.

Mike was a very popular member of the club, with an amazingly positive attitude in spite of his health problems.

Drive, energy and determination summed up his approach sport and life. A ‘Good for age’ marathon runner, he completed a triathlon a month before his death and was even improving his times.

His enthusiastic approach to everything made him a joy to be around. He never grumbled or complained and never felt sorry for himself. We never knew the true extent of the difficulties he faced, that’s why his death came as such a shock to us all.

'Miss Me, But Let Me Go'
When I come to the end of the road
and the sun has set for me.
I want no tears in a gloom filled room,
why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me, but not too long
and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared.
Miss me and let me go.

For this is a journey
we all must take
and all must go alone.
It's all part of the Master's plan,
a step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart,
go to the friends we know
and bury your sorrows in doing good work
Miss me, but let me go.
