Wow – what a location! Breathtaking scenery, wonderful lake – shame about the hills! Tabitha and I arrived Thurs/Friday before the race. Was great taking part in the team procession and being part of the team GB photos (see below).

Racking of bikes was on the Friday when the full extent of the transition area became apparent – I kid you not – our bikes were (approx.) 1k from Swim Out! This meant that in T1 we ran 1 k with our wetsuits over our shoulders, then ran 1 k with our bikes to Bike Out and then in T2 another 1k to Run Out. Now, as you all know – the run is not my strongest suit – enough said I think!

Swim was great, bike was hilly with 2 climbs and 2 fast descents on each of 4 laps, good job I practiced on Holly Hill right? Run was hot by 3pm in the afternoon and the extra effort required on the bike took its toll but the crowds kept you going.

A wonderful experience – Hamburg next year!
