Last
race of the week. You could choose to do this as a full Marathon, or in 2, 3
or 5 person relays. Sally went in for the 1st leg of the 2 person team, which
meant getting bussed to the ferry port, then a ferry ride to the cape before
running 11 miles, mostly up hill to the Cape Wrath Light house, what they
didn't tell her was that she would have to walk most of the way back tho the
Ferry meaning that she covered about 18 miles!!But it was very pretty! Lizzy,
Annabel and Simon did the full Marathon, again, we were bussed to the ferry
port, short ferry ride over to the cape, then 11 miles towards the cape, 11
miles back to the ferry port, where we all got collered by BBC Scotland to
say a few words, the last thing you want after running 22 miles is having a
camera stuck in your face and the Beeb asking questions! Some of us had to
wait for the BBC to get their act together and get on and off the boat with
cameras etc, then do the short crossing before doing the remainding 4.2 miles
on the road and hoping that your legs don't seize up. Annabel was the star
yet again, not olny winning the ladys
race comfortably but coming 2nd over all! A very good effort after winning
everything all week and this is billed as one of the hardest Marathons in the
UK!... We were all very pleased with our times and to have finnished. This
was followed by a big Ceilidh in the evening, where we all drank far too much
:) All in all an excellent week of running/drinking/canooing/dancing and all
the other activities we squeezed in. |
